I’m Fer from “A Safe World For Women Campaign”, and we noticed that the band has a huge connection with young people. Actually we’re holding two campaigns ASWFW and we’re the organization supporting the “Free the Hikers Campaign”.
In July 2009, 3 US holidaymakers were captured by Iranian border guards whilst they were on a hiking trip in Iraqi Kurdistan.They were transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran where they have been held, uncharged, ever since.For a variety of reasons it was decided for the first 8 months of their captivity to hold back talking about who the three friends, Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, really were.
They are just 3 US great social activists accused of espionage by Iranian Government since last July. We know that there is much more than just a simple prison…it is politic, it is power between nations…but honestly, people don’t need to pay the price of their Government’s acts. We need help to highlight their story!
Iran has blocked part of our website for them. We don’t want that these 3 US young activists die in front of our eyes. We need to raise awareness and pay attention to this horrible case, even worst now with the delicate relation between USA and Iran.
The support of noted social activists, such as Noam Chomsky & Angela Davis, highlights how these three innocent civilians are being used as pawns in a political game between powerful nations. Activist musician, Jackson Browne, supports our films about the hikers with his anti-war song 'Drums of War'.
Please, (Adm) consider spreading the word; or sharing through fans the Safe World Media films (links) about the Hikers, or just their stories… by pressure we can help them. Thanks a lot!
