On Monday, 30 Seconds to Mars premiered the epic video for “Closer to the Edge,” a far-reaching, all-encompassing affair that was shot in 89 cities in 27 different countries on the band’s Into the Wild Tour.
Featuring emotional interviews with 30STM fans, copious amounts of thunderous live footage and an inspirational “We are family” message, “Closer” is certainly everything the band’s so-called Echelon could’ve hoped for, and probably a little bit more. But the release of the clip also raises a rather interesting question: What ever happened to 30 Seconds to Mars’ other big-idea, even-bigger-scope music video, “This Is War”?

I think was a copyright thing, here in south america and europe we were able to watch the video on tv and net for about a month ago.

"This Is War" will see the light of day at a strategically relevant time. We Echelon put our trust in 30 Seconds to Mars and their judgment. When they give us the call to arms, we'll know "This Is War" indeed.
@ brandi, the intentions were to release CTTE first, I believe, but there were copyright issues that kept it from being in th u.s. I received an email when it “leaked” awhile back from “Barts” assistant Emma on the video. My daughter is the little girl with blue paint, Gabriella. So excited for the dvd.

My question is…with the This is War video, when did they have time during this tour…did they start before the tour? Got to love their energy…but even Bart needs to sleep at some point doesn't he?

I guess it's about the video itself… I don't know what it will be like, but I suppose that it has to be changed a bit for the european sector?! But it's not surprising for me, that it hasn't been released here yet. I wonder what it will be like ^_^ *am excited*

they said on the livechat yesterday that there were some problems with the video, and needed to sort some little things out
I bet they released CTTE because it was already being shown in other Countries and US fans were seeing the video on foreign websites… they probably figured, "well, they have seen this one already, lets put this out there, and save the fireworks for the one no one has seen yet." Jared said yesterday that they are having filming issues or something to that degree as well with finishing the TIW video…. It will come.. we just have to be patient.
I was wondering about the video too and scouring youtube.com to see if there was a leak of the entire video, but all there was were snippets of what was to come. So I thought it was because the video may have had OPSEC violations from military members who submitted footage for this 30STM project that was delaying the process.
